Editorial Policy

Every TheatreShelf article is researched from published sources such as Playbill, IBDB, publishers and official show sites, and every date, number and quote is checked against those sources before publishing.

How We Research

We build each article from primary and widely-cited published sources: production databases like IBDB, trade press like Playbill, publishers' own pages for books we reference, and official sites for the shows we cover. Sources are listed at the end of articles where relevant, so you can check them yourself.

How We Fact-Check

Before an article publishes, every date, number, award and quote in it is checked against the sources above. We don't include a specific claim we can't verify against a real source.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we correct it and note the change. Articles that have been edited after publishing show a visible "Last updated" date, so you can tell when something has changed since it first went live.

Affiliate Links

Some links in our articles are affiliate links — if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects which books, shows or products we choose to cover, or what we say about them. See our affiliate disclosure for full details.

AI Assistance

We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts. Every article is reviewed, fact-checked against cited sources, and edited by a human before it is published.
